The Sixth Summit of the Istanbul Initiative was held on October 23–24, 2025, bringing together 41 representatives from 34 NGOs across 26 countries worldwide. The summit featured enriching and dynamic discussions centered on the themes “Emerging Threats and Recovery” and “Policy, Coordination, and Future Strategies.”

The 2nd Istanbul Initiative Summit was held on 25 June 2020 online. The summit welcomed 28 representatives from international non-governmental organisations across 21 countries.
The first Istanbul Initiative Summit took place on 10-11 June 2019. It was sponsored by the Green Crescent and co-sponsored by the Drug Policy Futures (DPF) as platform, which develops global strategies and lobbies for the prevention and recovery of Drug, Alcohol, Tobacco, Gambling and Technology addictions for the future generations and the benefit of humanity.
